Parting with my Macbook Pro

After some years of faithful service, including helping to write Transcending CSS, it’s time for me to say a tearful farewell to my Macbook Pro.

Macbook Pro 15"

Before I set my faithful buddy loose on eBay, I wanted to offer it to my friends. Here is the low-down.

This is a three year-old Apple MacBook Pro (1st generation) with a 15" wide-screen, an Intel Core Duo 1.83Ghz processor and an 80Gb hard-drive. I know that's small by today's standards, but larger replacements cost as little as £100.00. (Full tech specs)

This laptop is in mint condition, having been recently refurbished by Apple in Manchester. The only surface marks are on the bottom case and come from normal daily use.

It has been covered under Apple Care and in the last month, the following parts have been replaced:

  • Top lid
  • Screen and screen inverter
  • Top case including trackpad and button
  • Worn keys
  • Main logic board
  • SuperDrive
  • Battery
  • Fans

The lucky new owner will also receive all of the original Apple accessories, including:

  • Apple Remote
  • 85W MagSafe Power Adapter
  • AC wall plug, power cord
  • Display port adapter
  • Additional battery (three years old)

And as this was the device that I used to write Transcending CSS, I'll sweeten the deal by including a copy of that too (signed if you want), plus an An Event Apart laptop sleeve that has protected it when away from my desk.

The asking price is £750.00 plus shipping. Please call 01745 851848 or email if you're interested.
