Speaking at @media2009

I’m really pleased that I can announce that, along with a formidable cast of old pros, I’ll be speaking at @media2009 in London on 25th and 26th of June. This will, incredibly, be the sixth time that I’ve spoken at @media (2005, 2006, 2007 (twice), 2008 and now 2009) and this year I’ll be talking about something a little different.

@media has evolved year-on-year and this June it will return to my preferred single track format and with a focus on time and money saving-minded presentations.

A highly relevant conference for trying times, @media ’09 is an invaluable guide to winning in today’s web design landscape.

I know that I'll learn a lot from @media this year and I am looking forward to hearing Jon Hicks, Dan Rubin and especially my old mate Simon Collison. Simon knows what it's like to build a quality design business through talent, hard work and sheer determination.

Walls Come Tumbling Down

My talk, Walls Come Tumbling Down will take me away from my usual comfort zones and I hope it be especially relevant considering the current climate.

Whether you work by yourself, in a small business team or for a larger organization, are you concerned by how the economic slow-down might affect the job that you love?

Should you be pre-occupied by worrying about the future or could you instead find new ways of working? Could you improve your methods to give you more time to be creative? Could you work more efficiently, be more profitable and help safeguard your job or your business?

In this positive presentation, Andy Clarke will explain how limitations and constraints can focus your mind and help you to develop more creative approaches. He will present his take on why designing in the browser, using practical conventions, progressive enrichment and other modern web design methods can liberate your thinking while also making creative and business sense to you, your managers or your employers.

You might recognize The Style Council reference in the title.

You don't have to take this crap.
You don't have to sit back and relax.
You can actually try to change it

Are you gonna make this work,
or spend your days down in the dirt?
You see things can change, walls can come tumbling down

Grab yourself an early-bird special before the 27th March.
