Mike Worth creates exciting, retro-style music for game developers who want their games to feel like action-packed cartoons from the ‘90s. His music brings the fun of those old-school adventures, making players feel part of a big ol‘ Indiana Jones-style quest. Mike wanted a website design that reflected his passion for ’90s animation, inspired by his beloved Disney Duck Tales.

Mike briefed me to design a new website with a ’90s animation vibe. So, I developed a brand new character—the orangutan adventurer and archaeologist Orango Jones—and created bespoke illustrations and a storyline that takes his hero back to Borneo on a quest for the emerald flute.

I designed a website to tell Mike’s story and showcase his work. I packed it full of lightweight animations to delight and surprise his audience. Despite bursting with animations and illustrations, Mike’s website is also a performance powerhouse, optimised to load quickly and be responsive.

Consistent colour palette

To maintain consistency during Orango’s and a user’s journey, I created a colour palette inspired by Disney’s Duck Tales and other animated series from the ’90s. I used it throughout Mike’s graphic assets, illustrations, and website design.

Colour palette consistency across Mike Worths website.

Comic-book typography and merch

I chose two typefaces from the Comicraft library to complement the characterful illustrations: Danger Girl for Mike’s logo and website headlines and Wild Words for his body copy.

Merchandising designs

When Mike’s design project reached the end of its journey and was handed over to Sush Kelly for technical development, Mike asked me to create designs for new merchandising. This features Mike’s branding and, of course, scenes from his animated Orango Jones story. I designed several button pins, caps, mugs, and t-shirts for Mike to sell in his store.
