What’s that? A lactose-intolerant Swiss referee robbed you of your grocer’s blood transfusion? That happened to me once. Not fun.

Yes! Portugal wins ;-) Better luck in 2006, Beckham should practice his shots more…

Andy don’t take me too seriously :-) Beckham is a fine player so one doesn’t expect him to miss such a shot. I bet a lot of you guys where shocked too.

I can’t honestly say that any of the two teams deserved to go through there. England did nothing but defend so I’m glad I won’t have to watch that again this Summer. Portugal didn’t manage to deliver a single piece of good football, so I’m sorry I will have to watch them again next week.

And I guess you’re referring to the disallowed goal just before full time, which was disallowed for a good reason. The Portuguese goal keeper was obstructed to get to the ball - and I consider myself a little more objective than you in this particular case. Nevertheless I do agree referees in general protect the goal keepers (and defenders) way too much.

A crying shame. Great match for the most of it but it’s always pot-luck with penalties. Here’s to Germany 2006! Our mid-field should be finely tuned by then.

Hell - we didn’t deserve to win - and we didn’t! Never mind, there’s always next time…….(sure the England boys are getting very used to hearing that one!!!!!!)

    Sick as a dog! :-(

Sol’s Goal was legit! Ref got it wrong!

John Terry had every right to be there, and the keeper made a pigs ear of it!

Lets face it… the ref was playing to the home team! How many fouls did they get away with!

And why the hell did he give a free kick against Rooney when his boot came off!?!?!

England loose an international in the quarter finals down to a penalty shootout. Who’d have thought eh?

Hard hard life that.. But keep your heads up, our team was to leave the Euro2004 on Wednesday after that "great" game versus Czechia.. and the day after, Rudi threw the towel. :( That’s tough, but anyway, in 2006 we will become World Champion in our own country. That’ll be great ;)

@ Ruben: What did you do during the match?! I think Portugal played exceptionally well.
But you’re right about the Lionhearts’ defensive tactics, just the same as against France. And again it didn’t pay off…

Not giving the goal was acceptable as well IMHO. The keeper couldn’t jump because of the arm on his shoulder.

@ Pete: I believe rules state that you are not allowed to play the ball without your boots (see: https://www.fifa.com/fifa/handbook/laws/2003/LOTG2003_e.pdf; Law 4, p.15)

@ Matthias: You probably think Holland play well too in this tournament? Both teams are perfectly capable of endlessly keeping the ball in possession without actually doing anything dangerous with it. Portugal only managed to create, what we call here, "half chances" (don’t know if that’s proper English) and none of their attackers was really in charge over the English defenders.
