I’m back. Tanned, rested, fired-up and ready with news of a special design and CSS workshop event happening in November in old London town.
CSS for Designers: Expert CSS training specifically for designers
Hosted by, and part of the excellent Carson Workshops programme, this is a new kind of web standards workshop which has been devised for creative designers: CSS for Designers
on 17th November in London.
The course is aimed specifically at helping visual people start designing in CSS. Throughout the day we will look at how CSS can be used to manage space, shape, colour, typography and other aspects of graphic design. It is an essential course for any designer who wants to move from creating restrictive table-based grid layouts to using more fluid CSS-based layouts. There will be visual examples from other genres of design including fine arts, architecture and product design to show you exactly what can be done with CSS. There will also be plenty of time to ask specific questions or pose individual problems on the day.
I’m currently working on lots of ’never seen before stuff’ and I’m sure that the day will be a lot of fun too. Places are limited to 40 and discount is available for early birds.
Registration is already open, I hope I’ll see some of you there.

I must say that I wish I could go.
I’m starting to get very disappointed in the lack of Web (standards) conferences in the Seattle area.

I’ve already considered attending…(I’d have to pay for it out of my own pocket though - steeeeeep!) - I really want to go, but doubt that I can (hmmm????)
Plus: it’s my 30th the following weekend - so I have to save some cash up for that one (should be crazy!)

Hi,
Wish I was over there for that one. I’ve been reading Molly’s 250 HTML and web design secrets book and updating my sites for xhtml/css/accessibility accordingly ! Sounds like a great opportunity.Good Luck!

Looks good, do you know if they would do a group discount on top of early bird? I wouldn’t mind trying to get a couple of the designers over there.

@ Richard Conyard:
I’m not sure about a group rate, but you should email Gill at Carson Workshops or call her on 01225 859 835 and I’m sure she will be very helpful.

so is the workshop more for a technical-hands-on kind of design audience?

This workshop sounds awesome. I don’t know how feasible it is to do, but would love to see this kinda thing streamed on the Internet so others (mainly myself) can listen in here in the States. I’m not suggesting free access, but someway to pay to login using something like Macromedia’s Breeze software. That’s me just my two cents. I’m so jealous I can’t afford the trip.

Oh wow! I wish I had the time and money to go. It would be fantastic to spend the day with you and Molly. I am sure it will be fully booked very quickly!
[Site bookmarked, some other cool workshops on there too.]
