Website design

The Environment Bank

Working with landowners, developers, planning authorities and conservationists to prevent biodiversity and habitat loss. The Environment Bank’s new homepage includes a seed motif and their updated logo.

The Environment Bank wanted to evolve their brand and improve the clarity of how they communicate through their website, so they wrote to us.

We love working with people who are enthusiastic about what they do and the team at The Environment Bank inspired us every day to create something special to help to promote their important environmental work. As we like to support charities and non-profit organisations, we offer reduced rates for them and we keep a number of pro-bono days in reserve each month to help them with design and consultancy.

Brief

To design a logo that maintains familiarity with their previous design while striking out in a bold, new direction. Then design responsive page layouts and integrate them into an easy-to-use CMS.

Atmosphere
Inspired by nature

We asked The Environment Bank to collect photographs that they felt expressed the ‘atmosphere’ they wanted for their website.

Here’s a selection of the logo mark options we offered. The team’s choice is bottom right.
The seed motif represents their potential for growth and the spreading of The Environment Bank’s information about biodiversity offsetting.

We chose FS Lola by Fontsmith in Regular and Bold weights, served by Font Deck.

Work

As the majority of The Environment Bank’s content is text, we designed their typography and page layouts with legibility and readability, across a range of screen sizes and devices, in mind. We spent three weeks working on The Environment Bank project. Week one on branding and design ‘atmosphere,’ week two on user experience and page layout design and the final week on technical development and the Perch CMS software.

Atmosphere
Responsive website design

Design atmosphere—that’s colour, typography and texture—transcends screen sizes and looks beautiful across every size and type of device.
