Blogging and all that Malarkey

This is the all new Stuff and Nonsense web site. Things have changed a great deal around here since the last time you may have stopped by. This site is a merger of two domains, the Stuff and Nonsense company portfolio plus the archives from And All That Malarkey.

To my complete and utter amazement, Jon Burgerman has agreed to create something truly, but unsurprisingly unique for this site. In doing so he has made me realise just how different a feel a new illustration can create, even when nothing else on a page changes.

My long, lost brother Mikey sent me an email today with a link to a video made by his company, ADP. I just had to share it. Watching the ADP video made me wonder if, in the light of our recent public relations problems, should the Britpack make a video?

I had looked forward to it for a year and it certainly didn’t disappoint. For me, this year’s SXSW Interactive was the best so far. Every year seems to be a little different.

This morning when I opened my inbox, I found a flurry of messages discussing the Britpack and what it is, could and shouldn’t be and about whether or not the wider perception of it was elitist and somehow harmful.

The end of this week sees web design masterminds, mobsters and even petty criminals heading to Austin for SXSW. It’s like Parkhurst for design geeks.

I haven’t watched television on a regular basis for a year now, preferring instead to watch TV series on DVD on my Mac at the end of the day. Over recent months I’ve been going to bed with Jack Bauer, watching 24 from seasons one to four.

I joined Amazon’s DVD Rental service recently, which so far has turned out to be (not unexpectedly) brilliant. I’ve been filling up my rental list with half-forgotten classics as well as the occassional bustblocker and along the way have developed a penchant…

So Web Directions North has wrapped and tomorrow we head to the mountains for a spot of cold weather sports activity (or probably in my case, my lips around a nice hot chocolate). But first, other news.
